毎日の和食を御りょうり屋伊藤さんから学ぼう Everyday Washoku

道南真昆布と削り立ての鰹節で引いた一番だし。まさに目から鱗の味でした。御りょうり屋伊藤さんをお招きしての「Everyday WASHOKU」ワークショップ。毎日の食卓にぜひ和食を、と語る伊藤さんの想いを伺い、そして伊藤さんのこしらえた最高に美味しい和食で、幸せいっぱいの時間でした。

This month, we were joined by chef Itou, who came to teach us about ‘Everyday Washoku’. We learned about the importance of dashi in Japanese cuisine, what the main ingredients are, where in Japan they come from, and how to make it. Chef Itou is dedicated to passing on this important know how to the next generation, and we all had a brilliant, delicious time learning about Japan’s beautiful food culture!

蜂について学ぼう Help the Bees of Yamagata!

朝日町「ハチ蜜の森キャンドル」の安藤さん、蜂愛を爆発させてくださいましたね〜！子どもたちだけでなく保護者さまも真剣に聞き入ってしまうほど、笑いあり驚きありの楽しい安藤さんのお話でした。そして何より、私たちがもっていた「蜂に対する考え方」を改めさせてくださいました。自分たちで作ったBee Houseに蜂たちが遊びに来てくれるこれからの季節を楽しみに、デコボコ英語ではこれからも安藤さんの活動をサポートしつつ、蜂について学んで行きたいと思っています。

Mr. Ando from Hachiro no Mori Kandoru visited Deko Boko Eigo, and taught us all about bees and other pollinators. We were all very excited to learn about all the important things our misunderstood friends do for the world we live in. We learnt so many new things about bees, wasps, and hornets, Mr. Ando totally changed the way I feel about them, and I know I'm not alone in that feeling! We then worked hard, putting together our very own Bee Houses to help make our garden's more friendly for our neighbourhood pollinators in preparation for spring. Mr. Ando, thank you so much for coming, it was a really eye opening experience!

Help the Bees of Yamagata! やまがたの蜂について学びながら「蜂の家」をつくろう

朝日町「ハチ蜜の森キャンドル」の安藤さんが、山形の蜂について教えてくださいます。そしてみんなで「狩り蜂の家」を造ります。家の壁にぶら下げたり、庭にポールをたててのせておけば季節ごとにサイズにあったいろんな蜂が卵を産みに来るそうです。 蜂は怖いから嫌い。見つけたら追い払うかつぶしてしまう。。。。そんな考え方が180度変わります。やまがたに住む蜂との上手なつきあい方を英語で学んでみませんか？

This March, Mr. Ando from Hachimitsu no Mori is coming to Deko Boko Eigo to teach us all about bees. This year, we learnt that we rely on bees for one of every three mouthfuls of food we eat, however, the bee population is in decline. Mr. Ando is going to show us how we can help support our local bees, by learning all about our helpful honey-making friends, and by making insect hotels to put in our own gardens. Let's make a difference together!
